. Well, it’s back in the news only this time it’s an official announcement. That’s right! Lenovo has finally released its hotly-anticipated S10-2 netbook. The netbook takes that extra step as far as portability and style are concerned without compromising on performance.
The lighter and thinner netbook is packed with some of the latest entertainment and wireless connectivity technologies. Unlike its predecessor, the S10-2 adorns a vibrant and colorful ring pattern design. High spots of the netbook, Lenovo claims are optional 3G connectivity, Dolby headphone technology support and a longer battery life.
“With the netbook scene rapidly changing, consumers are telling us they want to merge the capabilities of their most commonly used sources of electronic entertainment, such as digital photographs, online TV, music and social networks all into one portable and affordable device,” commented Dion Weisler, vice president, Business Operations, Idea Product Group, Lenovo. He added, “We’ve incorporated that feedback into our new IdeaPad S10-2 netbook, giving consumers around the world more ways to connect with options for wireless connectivity, a more portable and expressive design and entertainment-packed features.”
The sleek netbook weighs just over two pounds and is less than an inch in thickness. The netbook sports a fashion-forward and elegant ring pattern design right on the top cover. It is given a unique look thanks to personalization in grey, pink, white or black colors. Like mentioned yesterday, the netbook does in fact include a much larger keyboard around 90% the size of a standard netbook. Giving users a full-functional laptop feel, the netbook also wraps in similar sized and balanced shift keys on both sides of the keyboard.
With the S10-2, the touch pad is also larger and more comfortable to use. Including 3 USB ports and a 4-in-1 card reader, the netbook’s battery should last around six hours. It also acquires up to 30% more battery life with its battery saving software. In addition to this, the netbook also packs in some interesting ‘On Demand’ features. The netbook enables users to access their favorite applications like music, photos, instant message sending, making Skype calls and more instantly with the Lenovo QuickStart. The VeriFace facial recognition technology lets ‘On Demand’ users log into the PC with their face.
Some additional features of the netbook include various wireless connectivity options, the Dolby Headphone technology with 5.1 channel sound support, integrated web-camera, 10-inch LED screen and the latest Intel Atom processor technology.
The Lenovo S10-2 netbook will hit stores by end of this month through the company’s official website while it will be available to business partners by end of June, 2009. The netbook carries a starting price of $349.
